Heydar Babayev: "Oil prices will not go lower than $80 per barrel"

08 October 2008 [14:32] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan does not intend to change the state budget forecasts about the oil prices due to their decline on the world markets, said Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev.

"I am following the forecasts of the leading world analysis, who agree that the oil prices will not go below $80-90 per barrel", said the Minister.

"I consider that oil and natural gas consumption may go down but it will not influence the prices greatly and they can even be $90-100 per barrel", added Babayev.

"Unfortunately, many speculative operations which influence the drop in oil prices and may also influence the price hike are carried out on the market,", concluded the Minister.

It should be noted that the forecasts of oil price, fixed in the draft state budget for 2009, envision $70 per barrel.
