Fourth international youth employment summit starts in Baku - UPDATED

The fourth international youth employment summit opened at Gulistan palace in Baku today.

Day.Az reports with reference to AzerTac that the letter of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, read out during the summit? says that the youth employment issue remains the focus of due structures as an urgent problem of most world countries.

"The analysis of placement of these people, who have a high potential, in jobs should be held in line with the demand of information community, it is necessary to create due conditions for assimilation of new technologies and innovations by the youth", says the letter.

According to it, the participation of representatives of different countries in the summit is a demonstration of their interest to the youth employment problem.

"I hope that during this remarkable event, you will use the rich experience of different countries of the world, find new conceptual approaches in the resolution of the employment issues and prepare proposals regarding application of this mechanism. We have defined that the further improvement of the welfare of our citizens is the priorty of the state policy", says the letter.

According to it, the strengthening of the economic potential, creation of new job opportunities open new chances for youth and encourage them for taking new steps on the way to education and raising their professional skills.

According to Day.Az, the opening ceremony was attended by Mehriban Aliyeva, first lady of Azerbaijan, deputy of Milli Medjlis, goodwill ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, first lady of Egypt Suzann Mubarak and other officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, head of the humanitarian department of the president Fatma Abdullazade read the greeting letter from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, which states that "youth employment is a problem of most countries of the world, which should be paid a special attention and Azerbaijan treats this issue seriously".

During her speech Mehriban Aliyeva, welcoming the summit participants, spoke of the successful development of Azerbaijan, which promotes the resolution of the problem of youth employment.

"The annual GDP growth makes 25% and the share of private sector totals 84%. More than 700,000 jobs were opened within four years. The poverty rate reduced from 49% to 16%. 69.2% are engaged in private sector in Azerbaijan, which is a great achievement", noted Aliyeva.

It should be noted that the summit will last until September 27.
