President of Azerbaijan receives Iranian Energy Minister - UPDATED

During the meeting the President of Azerbaijan stressed successful development of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations in the sphere of economy, including, energy.

As for the discussions on the further development of cooperation in the sphere of energy, the Iranian Minister stressed importance of his visit to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan's Minister of Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev received today Iranian Minister of Energy Seid Parviz Fattah.

During the meeting, Iranian Energy Minister noted that Azerbaijan and Iran adhere to the same position in the issue of energy cooperation.

The meeting participants coordinated issues of creating a work group on the level of deputy ministers, transit of electric power from Azerbaijan to Turkey via Iran, opening of an energy corridor between Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia, mutual investments of Azerbaijan and Iran into the energy sector.

"In line with the discussions, the positions of the sides coincide. I hope the coordinated issues will be fixed in the documents as soon as possible".

In turn, Iranian Energy Minister added that the documents on the said issue will possibly be signed by results of the two-day visit.

He said Azerbaijan and Iran primarily need to unite power grids.

"The second energy distribution line Imishli-Parsabad will soon be constructed and launched which will ensure energy exchange between our countries".

Fattah is expected to hold meetings in Azerenerji, Bakielektrikshebeke and other state establishments.

A delegation led by Iranian Energy Minister Parviz Fattah has arrived in Baku today, reported Day.Az with reference to IRNA news agency.

As is reported, during the three day visit the delegation will discuss cooperation of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia in the energy sector.

The discussions will also focus on issues of bilateral cooperation.

During the visit Fattah will be received by president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev and other officials. The Iranian delegation will also visit a number of Azerbaijani electric stations.
