Intel corporation: "We will provide access to computer and internet for each citizen of Azerbaijan"

In the framework of the agreement, Intel and the government of Azerbaijan will cooperate in expanding application of IT in the sphere of education, high speed cableless communications, digital methods of healthcare and highly productive calculations.

"Our common intention to develop the sector of computer, information and telecommunication technologies will help take steps useful for the future of Azerbaijan, beginning from the children's education. We, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, the Ministry of education and local computer companies, will provide access to each citizen of Azerbaijan to computers and internet by conducting the program of "national computer", said the chairman of the Intel's directors' board Craig Barrett.

Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan's Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov noted that the agreement, concluded with Intel may help create necessary conditions for rapid development of information and telecommunication technologies. "We value Intel's cooperation with us in the development and application of mutual projects", said Abbasov.

Azerbaijan's Minister of Education Misir Mardanov also stressed the role of Intel corporation in the development of both information and telecommunication sector of Azerbaijan and educational one.

It was declared during the session that in 2009 Intel plans to deliver 1000 Classmate PC-inexpensive, full functioning notebooks on the basis of Intel technologies, designed for use in the education process-to Azerbaijan schools.

Moreover, the corporation plans to hold an educational program for teachers, aimed ay application of a new educational system and finance services for certification and supply of educational systems to schools

To facilitate access to internet in the Azerbaijani territory, Intel will cooperate with the government in creation of favorable conditions for telecommunication services suppliers, involved in the projects on ensuring cableless communication for the national educational system. These efforts will aim at spreading the high speed limitless communication technologies, such as Wi-Fi and WiMAX.
