Azerbaijan's Industry and Energy Minister: "BP should accelerate Stage-2 of еру Shah Deniz project"

He said as the field reserves exceed 1,2 trillion cubic meters the declared 20 bln cubic meters of pick extraction will not suffice.

"Such unique field as Shah Deniz can produce higher volumes of gas considering experience of Russian field. The wells produce 3-5 bln cubic meters of gas per day and it is quite real to attain the pick of 30 bln cubic meters", Aliyev said.

Moreover, the Minister considers that BP is being late with implementation of Stage-2 which is planned to be launched in 2012. "Yet, if everything proceeds on this pace, this will occur in 2013. Though now one does not need to worry about market of gas sale-we now have a great market in Europe. In these conditions, BP should accelerate process of Stage-2 implementation.
