Gazprom's intention to buy Azerbaijani gas by market prices on the basis of a long-term agreement may be connected by the lack of sufficient resources of the company to execute commitments before the European countries, said deputy assistant US Secretary of State on Europe and Eurasia Matthew Bryza.
It should be reminded that such a proposal was voiced by chairman of the Russian company Alexei Miller during the meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during the working visit to Azerbaijan on June 2.
"Very many companies are ready to purchase Azerbaijani gas, which proves importance of Azerbaijani reserves. As for Gazprom, it seems to have insufficient reserves for execution of contract duties on supplies to Europe", said Bryza.
