Azerbaijan's inflation rate reaches 17.8% by results of April

In April of 2008 the prices on consumer goods and tariffs of services have risen by 3.1% as compared to March and by 17.8% as compared to the same period of the last year.
Day.Az reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan that in particular prices on foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco have risen by 4.5% in April, as compared to March and by 23.7% as compared to the same period of the last year and prices on nonfoods by 1.7% and 9.8% and services by 1% and 11.2% respectively.

The structure of price hike on foodstuffs within a month was as follows:

- vegetables – 0.5%;
- fruits – 2%;
- bakery products and cereals – 9.5%;
- sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets – 2.7%;
- butter and fat – 2%;
- coffee, tea, cacao – 1.2%;
- meat products – 9.4%;
- beer – 4.5%;
- alcohol drinks – 1.8%;
- tobacco – 4.2%;

At the same time, prices have fallen by 0.6% on fish products and 1.8% on dairy products, cheese and eggs.

Structure of rise in prices on nonfoods:

- clothes – 0.9%;
- textile – 1%;
- shoes – 0.8%;
- building materials – 3.6%;
- furniture and household utensils – 1.9%;
- carpets – 1.6%;
- jewels – 1.3%.

Structure of rise in tariffs on services:

- clothes cleaning and repair – 0.7%;
- shoe repair – 3.4%;
- furniture, household utensils and carpets repair – 0.7%;
- hotel services – 5%;
- household device repair – 0.5%.
