Azerbaijan's Finance Minister: "Rise in bread prices in Azerbaijan is mainly caused by external factors"

According to him, the prices of mineral fertilizers alone have recently doubled on the world market.

"Our farmers pay more for fertilizers and they should increase prices to cover their expenses," he added.

He also attributed the price rise to the high prices of grain imports.

"Nobody is interested to buy expensive grain but there is some other reality. Of course, high wheat prices also increase bread loaf price in the country. It is impossible to prevent objective trends," he noted.

Samir Sharifov added that the government will take some measures to help low-income groups.

"Assistance may be delivered to this category of population through existing mechanisms," he underlined.
