Lenkoran opposition calls on Azerbaijani authorities to provide aid to south region's citrus economies

The Lenkoran organizations of the Musavat, Popular Front and Open Society opposition parties have prepared an appeal in this connection.
According to Day.Az, the appeal stresses the poor state of the citrus economies of the southern region due to winer frost.

Chairman of the Musavat Lenkoran organization Yadigar Sadikhov said winter frost terminated almost of citrus trees. According to him, thousands of families were on the poverty line and only government can help them.

Unfortunately, the government has not yet taken a decision to assist to the citrus economies. Therefore, the Lenkoran opposition consider it its duty to remind about the urgency of the problem.

The appeal notes that the delay in this issue may promote appearance of de-classed elements, rise in crimes and migration. "Therefore, it is necessary to pass a decision on provision of aid and to ensure strict control over the distribution of aid", says the appeal, signed by local organizations of Musavat, Azerbaijan Popular Front Party and Open Society Party.
