Azerbaijan and Korea to ink agreement on Absheron Polluted Site Clean-up Project

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev has hosted a delegation led to Baku by Vice-President of Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The meeting focused on the current status and prospects of cooperation between the two countries.

The sides exchanged views on a joint project for Oil-Polluted Site Clean-up in Absheron Peninsula.

A delegation from South Korea will travel to Azerbaijan on April 21 to have discussion on the commencement of the project and an agreement on implementation of the project will be signed during Korean Prime Minister’s visit to Baku on May 18.

Azerbaijan’s Industry and Energy Ministry also plans to implement a joint project with KOICA for reducing energy loss in power transmission and improving efficient use of energy resources.

The parties also discuss a number of joint projects, including establishment of Special Economic Zones, construction of small power plants, exploration of minerals in Talish Mountain etc.
