Azerbaijan boosts oil exports by 18%

8.731 million metric tons of oil flowed abroad from Azerbaijan during January-March, a 17.67% rise as compared to the same period a year earlier.
Of this, 8.482 million tons were exported by Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), a BP-led consortium of foreign petroleum companies that signed extraction contracts with Azerbaijan, 17.22% higher as compared a year earlier.

170,756 tons of oil was transported by railroad to Batumi in Georgia over this period, 4.4-times lower than the same period last year.

Oil was not pumped through the Western Route Export Pipeline to Supsa from Baku as the pipeline is currently shut down.

AIOC didn’t export any oil through the Northern Route Export Pipeline to Novorossiysk Port while SOCAR exported 249,700 tons.

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline delivered 8.311 million tons of oil to Ceyhan Terminal of Turkey, a 43.5% rise as compared to a previous year.

Azerbaijan exported a total of 30.579 million tons of oil during 2007, a 35.9% rise from 2006.
