EU assigns EUR 1,450,000 for social protection system in Azerbaijan

The due announcement was made by Elnur Kalantarov, spokesman for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

He said the European Union has assigned EUR 1,450,000 for the said project.

"Finnish Consulting Group Ltd is responsible for the project implementation", Kalantarov noted.

He said the main aim of the project is the development of the sphere of social aid for improvement of living conditions of socially vulnerable categories of Azerbaijani population.

"The main trends of the project include the development of the strategy of social assistance in Azerbaijan, reduction of poverty rate, improvement of methods and experience in the sphere of social aid, raising skills and capabilities of the work group by means of trainings, informing the population about the sphere of social aid", the spokesman said.

He noted that the project will be prolonged within April-December of 2008.
