"Transport Minister Ziya Mamedov gathered entrepreneurs in November of
2006 and announced that those buses which do not meet requirements
should be taken off the routes within 2007".
The due announcement was made by head of Bakisernishinnegliyati, Jeyhun
Abdullayev, commenting on yesterday's announcements of 62
entrepreneurs, who stated that Azerbaijan's Transport Minister Ziya
Mamedov decided to take control over the whole passenger transport of
the capital city.
"Those companies, which took these requirements into consideration, are
now operating normally. As for the Transgate company, it has supplied
Azerbaijan with large buses. Should we leave these buses in garages and
use old Mercedes instead of them? No. We must create conditions for
them. These are state routes, they are not private", Abdullayev said.
According to Abdullayev, companies, which have supplied large modern buses to Azerbaijan, should be equipped with normal routes.
"They have been notified that while supplying buses they should
coordinate technical parameters with the Transport Ministry and only
then supply them", he announced.
He also noted that the entrepreneurs were recommended to unite several
small companies into a larger one, which will undoubtedly improve the
quality of services, provided to the population.
