Session of Japan-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission to be held in Tokyo

The due information was provided by Japan's embassy to Azerbaijan, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

A governmental delegation led by Azerbaijan's vice premier Abid Sharifov has arrived in Tokyo for participation in the session. Japanese ambassador to Azerbaijan Masamutsi Oki is also in Tokyo to prepare for the session.

A source from the embassy reported that a protocol and several agreements, reflecting cooperation between the two countries in economic sphere will be signed by results of the session.

Tokyo is interested in energy sector of Azerbaijan, therefore, a special attention will be paid to cooperation in the said sphere. The fourth session of the intergovernmental economic commission Azerbaijan-Japan was held in Baku in 2007.

The Japanese side within the intergovernmental commission is chaired by Akita Yakota, vice -president of Itochu, Japanese national petroleum corporation, and the Azerbaijani side -vice-premier Abid Sharifov.

The composition of the national part of the state Azerbaijan-Japan commission on economic cooperation has been renewed by resolution of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Alitev. Vice premier Abid Sharifov has been appointed its chairman. The commission also includes ministers of economic development Heydar Babayev, finance Samir Sharifov, industry and energy Natik Aliyev, communication and information technologies Ali Abbasov, health Oqtay Shiraliyev, agriculture Ismet Abbasov, education Misir Mardanov, labor and social protection of the population Fizuli Alekperov, chief of department of economic policy of the executive office of the President Mail Ragimov, deputy minister of foreign affairs Khalaf Khalafov, Ministers of Culture and Tourism Teymur Mekhtiyev, Transport Musa Panakhov, Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev, SOCAR president Rovnaq Abdullayev, President of Azerkimya Medjid Kerimov, deputy chairman of the National Bank Vadim Khubanov, chairman of the board of International Bank Jahangir Hadjiyev, first deputy director general of AZAL Sabir Ilyasov, president of Azerbaijan's trade and industrial chamber Suleyman Tatliyev, president of Azerenerji Etibar Pirverdiyev and chief of department of international affairs of the Cabinet of Ministers Agadai Agayev as a secretary.
