Azerbaijani Hunters Union offers to lift ban on bird hunting

22 January 2008 [13:51] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Hunters Union offered to restore permission on bird hunting in the country, according to the chairman of the organization Ramazan Ismayilov.

He said bird hunting had been banned in the country since 2005, because of bird flu.

“As far as we know, poachers continue to hunt birds. On the other hand, this ban weakens interest in hunting. According to our monitoring along with other organizations, there is no bird flu in the country and bird hunting can be permitted,” he said.

Over 21,000 hunters have been registered in Azerbaijani Hunters Union.
