SOCAR almost neutralizes its tax debt before state budget

The large state enterprises of Azerbaijan (except for the State Oil Company) paid taxes in the amount of AZN 230 million to the state budget of the country in 2007.

According to the chief of special department of tax service under the Ministry of Taxes Sakhir Mamedkhanov, the tax payments  rose by AZN 100 million, as compared to 2006.

SOCAR, in turn, paid taxes in the amount of AZN 1.15million, thus neutralizing almost all of its tax debts. "As of January 1 of 2008, its tax debts made up AZN 53 million, which are transitive, while 3 years ago their volume was AZN 1 billion", he noted.

At the same time, the tax debts of large enterprises except for SOCAR make up AZN 750 million, with greater part falling on Azerenerji, though in 2007 it paid taxes in the amount of over AZN 80 million, which is AZN 30 million higher, as compared to 2006.

S.Mamedkhanov also said that in 2008 the department expects SOCAR to pay AZN 1.35 billion of tax debts and other large state enterprises-over AZN 250 million.

It should be reminded that the large state taxpayers are the Ministry of Communication and Informational Technologies, Azerenerji, Azerigaz, Azersu, State Azerkimya, State concern "Azerbaijani airlines", Caspian Shipping Company, Azerbaijan State Railroads, Baku underground.
