Adil Garibov: "We need 10-15 years for construction of nuclear power station"

"We need 10-15 years for construction of an nuclear power station in Azerbaijan. At least 7-8 years are needed for training of specialists. NPS is not important for Azerbaijan at present but in 10-15 years we will feel need for it," director of Radiation Problems Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Adil Garibov told the APA.

He noted that though Armenian is a donor country, but it stood in a queue for 1000 megawatt-reactor. "Our scientists taking into consideration the importance of NPS in future have presented their recommendations and proposals to the Foreign Ministry. After getting permission, both place and reactor of an NPS will be defined. On the other hand, the nuclear reactors do not present any danger for environment."
