Latvian Minister for Special Assignments for Electronic Government Affairs meets with her Azerbaijani counterpart

Ina Gudele, Minister for Special Assignments for Electronic Government Affairs of Latvia today met with Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov.

The ministers discussed issues arising from bilateral agreement signed on November 24, 2006 in Latvia.

Ali Abbasov said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Latvia last year contributed to the development of relations between the two countries. The minister said the World Bank will extend a loan with grace period to Azerbaijan for establishment of e-government.

"We will cooperate with the World Bank for establishing e-government next fiscal year," he said.

Minister Abbasov said they want to study Latvia's experience in this sphere.

Ina Gudele stressed the importance of human resources for Latvia. Giving information about computerization in her country, the minister said that even the smallest libraries in Latvia are provided with computers, the schools passed to the second stage of computerization.

Latvian Minister underlined that Azerbaijan is Latvia's close partner, APA reports.
