Azerbaijan intends to merge several industrial enterprises

In Azerbaijan, oil and non-oil sectors should pace in parallel and by 2012 revenues coming from these sectors have to be parallel, said the country's industry and energy minister Natig Aliyev.

He expressed hope that it is possible to restore industrial complex of the country, APA reports.

The Minister said they have studied prospects of traditional fields of industry and raw material stock.

"We have prioritized directions, which are of strategic importance for the country. Azerbaijan has good potential to develop chemical and oil-chemical industry. We can also develop oil-engineering complex. We achieved 2%-13% rise in this field during recent years," he noted.

He also said that there is a great need for institutional and structural reforms in metallurgy, construction materials production and light industry.

The Minister said it is expedient to merge several existing industrial enterprises so as to form a strong industrial group.
