06 March 2007 [22:18] - TODAY.AZ
Pipelay and construction work in the Turkish part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum has been complete.

Turkish state-owned Petroleum Pipeline Corporation BOTAS Vice-President Shakir Arikan said the constriction works spent $150m and the pipeline will soon deliver Shah Deniz gas to Turkey and the world market from Azerbaijan at its full capacity, APA reports.

"The construction activities employed 400 people and 300 vehicles. Shah Deniz Project spent five times less than other regional projects. We hope to receive Azeri gas this month. This project will deliver the Caspian gas to the world market. Up to now, we had imported gas from Russia, Algeria, Nigeria and Iran. Now we have found another source of gas," he noted.

He added that the pipe duct will deliver 8.6m cubic meters of gas per day.

"This project will also enable Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to export their natural gas," he underscored.
