Electricity supply to debtor officials to be cut off

24 February 2007 [07:55] - TODAY.AZ
Collection rate for electricity dipped 15-20% following the energy price rise in January, said Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov.

He said lack of metering undermines collection rates both in Baku and regions.
Yagub Eyyubov said the public officials and well-off people have paid off for electricity they used.

I had asked Huseyn Arabul to bring me the list of debtor officials, but he didn't. I personally control the process at present and instructed Bakielectricshebeke (Baku Electricity Networks) to immediately cut off the supply if any official dodges, he noted.

In July, 2006, the President told a government meeting that some officials and well-off people didn't pay electricity bills and instructed the Government to take a tough line. APA-Economics
