Azerbaijan to cover its needs for gas at its own resources

"Azerbaijan will cover needs for natural gas at its own resources, the level will not be lower than that of 2006," Azerigaz CJSC chief Alikhan Melikov said in his speech in the conference of YAP Khetai district organization.

He said that as the negotiation on Russian gas imports did not result positive, Azerbaijan intends to supply the consumers with natural gas at its own resources. He stated that Azerbaijan imported 4,5bn cu m gas from Russia.

Touching upon the problems on payment of charges for gas, Melikov noted that they take necessary measures to remove the problems.

Melikov stated that the ration of used fuel reached to 80-90 % in the regions.

He said that Azerbaijan began to export gas to Georgia and the 90m cu m natural gas will be exported till the first term of the year, APA reports.
