Seminar for customs officers helt at WCT regional training center

According to the State Customs Committee, World Customs Organization's Baku Regional Training Center is playing host to a seminar on Application of the World Trade Organization's Customs Valuation Agreement for customs officers of the Economic Cooperation Organization member countries.

The seminar started with opening remarks by customs experts from Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Iran.

First deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee, Safar Mehdiyev said the fact that the event is held in Baku is not occasional. To date, Azerbaijan has successfully organized some WCO events, and this one is supposed to be successful as well.

Safar Mehdiyev stressed that national leader Heydar Aliyev-initiated economic reforms are now continued successfully by President Ilham Aliyev. According to him, the customs policy became the part of the economic security, and Azerbaijan has already joined the Kyoto Convention, International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System and is going to become WTO member.

He expressed his satisfaction with head of WCO Tariffs and Trade Affairs Directorate C. Mwansa's visit to Baku and discussions the counterparts. He said Azerbaijan was the first country to have WCO Regional Training Center. AzerTAg
