India woos Azerbaijan with direct jewellery export

Azeri businessmen are likely to take part in the jewellery exhibition that takes place in India from August 30 August to September 3, 2007 in response to the invitation extended by Sanjay Kutari, Head, Indian delegation of Council for Promotion of Gems and Jewelry Export.

In a bid to promote Indian jewellery business in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the delegation has visited Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan and will be visiting Georgia and Armenia.

In Azerbaijan, the aim of visit is to familiarize Azeri businessmen and customers with Indian jewelry. Azerbaijan currently buys the jewellery in Turkey and other countries, which are actually made in India.

The delegation has assured to arrange direct delivery of Indian jewellery to Azerbaijan, which is also seen as a source for jewellery production.
