SOCAR to shut down noncommercial wells

SOCAR has developed an action plan to study the ecological situation with the onshore oilfields, SOCAR vice-president Khoshbekht Yusifzade told journalists.

He said that the president will also soon sign a decree on the problem, APA reports.

"SOCAR is conducting examination in Balakhani and Binagadi at its own charge. Examination of Bibiheybat Bay will be completed within two years. It is intended to shut down ecologically inefficient and noncommercial oil wells."

He said that SOCAR plans to make inventory of areas in Bibiheybat, Sabunchu, Balakhani and surrounding highway to the Airport.
