Azeri investments up in 6 months

Investments in Azerbaijan's economy have increased to exceed 2.6bn new manats ($2.93bn) in January-June, or 7.9% over the same period of last year.

85% of the funds was directed to production sector. 60.3% of the amount was invested by foreign sources, the State Statistics Committee told AssA-Irada.

About 80% of the investment was made in the private sector.

75.9% of the funds was made by businesses, while 7.8% - on account of budget funds and 6.7% savings of the population.

A total of $5.9 billion was invested in the country in 2005.
