"Funda" medical center in Azerbaijan to be suspended from July 3

30 June 2006 [21:16] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Health Minister will suspend the Funda medical center of "Illac" LLC from July 3, 2006, Deputy Health Minister Elsevar Aghayev told.

He said the medical center renders outpatient and in-patient care. Though its permanent department is for common surgery patients and childbirth, this center lacks suitable conditions for rendering profiled medical care.

"Bandages are put on in wards, clean and sterile linen is kept in shelves in the corridors. Surgeries are performed on the same ward where childbirth is given. The in-patient room does not meet required medical standards. Keeping women newly delivered, newly born babies and surgery patients in the same room is contrary to hygienic and epidemic regulations. During the inspection in the lab of the center chemicals with expired date were found there," the Health Ministry official said.

Aghayev also said other private healthcare institutions will also be surveyed explanting the reasons for banning the activity of the private "Diamed" medical center on 29 June. He said the medical center was warned about the decision of its closing.

However, the center ignored the warning saying it will continue the construction work without coordinating with the State Sanitary Controlling Bodies.

The Deputy Minister noted closing of these medical centers does not mean revoking their licenses. These institutions will be allowed to function again if they remove their deficiencies. Otherwise, the licenses might be revoked.

Aghayev noted the Health Ministry does not have biased approach to private healthcare institutions. The objective is to improve medical care rendered for population, APA reports.
