Aydin Bashirov: "Azerbaijan intends to receive consent of Russia for navigating in its internal waters till April"

01 February 2006 [01:34] - TODAY.AZ
The Caspian Shipping Company (CSC) continues negotiations with the Russian party in a governmental level for the purpose of receiving Russia's consent for navigating in its internal waters.

As APA reports referring to the chief of CSC Aydin Bashirov, ships can not leave the Caspian Sea at present because internal waters of Russia are frozen and this situation will last till April 15.

"During this period we will also try to achieve some results in the negotiations and certain issues have already been co-ordinated", the Chief of the Company said.

A.Bashirov noted that the Russian party gave its consent to Azerbaijan for only 5 analogous passages in 2005, however Azerbaijan wants more quotas.

It should be noted that Russia has been using the quota system for navigating in its internal waters since 1994 and this system is applied to all Caspian Sea states.
