A Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Technical Regulation, Metrology, Standardization and Conformity Assessment was signed between Azerbaijan and China in Beijing on May 15.

The document was signed by State Committee head Ramiz Hasanov and Vice Minister of the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Wu Qinghai.

Prior to signing ceremony, Hasanov and Chinghai hold a meeting, where the sides agreed on export of environmentally friendly agricultural products to China and mutual recognition of quality infrastructure systems.

Chine will recognize the certificates issued for products manufactured in Azerbaijan and strengthen cooperation with accredited certification bodies, according to mutual agreement. In addition, China will support Azerbaijan in its desire to join international organizations that carry out activities in the field of accreditation.

Then the parties signed a MoU, which is aimed to remove technical obstacles in trade between the two countries and strengthen economic ties, as well as enhance the potential of non-oil exports of Azerbaijan.

Under the document, the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan will develop cooperation with the Main Directorate of China on Supervision, Quality Inspection and Quarantine in the areas of technical regulation, metrology, standardization and conformity assessment, as well as appropriate measures will be taken to ensure unimpeded export of Azerbaijani products to Chinese market.

The Chinese market is new for Azerbaijan. The national production entered the Chinese market just about a year ago, and experts say that the dynamics is good enough.

Last year, the country sent trade missions to China (Hong Kong and Guangzhou), where certain agreements had been reached.

The country reached an agreement on the wine supply to China and delivered the first batch of supplies earlier this year. Under the deal, Azerbaijan will supply some 500,000 bottles of wine to the world's second-largest economy.

Beijing held international forum "One belt - one way" within the framework of the economic development strategy on May 13-15.

Hasanov also participated in the forum as part of the Azerbaijani delegation. In total, the event was attended by the heads of state and government of 29 countries, representatives of the public and private sector from 110 countries, investors, and representatives of more than 60 international organizations.
