Anar Mammadov has been appointed new director general of the Turkish Petkim petrochemical complex, Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (Kamuoyunu Ayd?nlatma Platformu - KAP) reported on July 28.

Mammadov replaced Sadeddin Korkut in this post.

Petkim’s previous director general Korkut resigned and was later arrested on charges of being involved in Fethullah Gulen’s movement.

Later it was reported that Korkut was detained in connection with the complaint of one high-ranking official of the company, who was dismissed earlier, SOCAR told Trend July 28.

Also, some officials of SOCAR Turkey Energy company, Turkish subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, resigned in connection with the military coup attempt in Turkey, local media reported.

Among those resigned are Omer Adsiz, director of PR department at SOCAR Turkey, Ilgar Mehmetoglu, director of the company’s HR department, Cetin Korkut, director of the company’s IT department, as well as Fuat Ulagay, director of HR department at Star refinery.

Earlier, Sabah newspaper reported that the Turkish government is expanding the fight against the supporters of Gulen’s movement in the country’s energy sphere.

As part of the fight against the movement of Fethullah Gulen, who was reported to be involved in the military coup attempt in the country, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority has appealed to all energy companies of the country demanding to dismiss Gulen’s supporters, according to the report.

Twenty-five employees of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority were earlier dismissed over the military coup attempt in Turkey.

The July 15 coup attempt occurred when rogue elements in the Turkish military tried to overthrow the country's democratically elected government.

Turkey's government has repeatedly said the deadly plot, which martyred at least 246 people and injured more than 2,000 others, was organized by followers of U.S.-based preacher Fetullah Gulen.

Gulen is also accused of a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration into Turkish state and government establishments, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the "parallel state".

The General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces has said that 8,651 servicemen of the armed forces participated in the military coup attempt in the country. The rebels used 35 planes, 37 helicopters, 246 tanks and three vessels during the military coup attempt in Turkey.

MP from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Umit Bozdag recently warned that militia, who are still loyal to Gulen can attempt for a new military coup in the coming months.

“There is still danger in Turkey. Threat will exist as long as FETO followers will be among the Turkish armed forces. We can face the threat of a coup from the army at every turn, until all of them are cleaned up,” he said.
