AZAL to continue flights to Ganja

Azerbaijan Airlines will continue to implement flights to Ganja, which were previously planned to be suspended, spokesman for AZAL Pasha Kesamanski told the local media.

Earlier, he said that AZAL will suspend the flights on Baku-Ganja-Baku route from November 21 due to unprofitability of this route and lack of passengers. The airlines have also stopped flights on Baku-Gabala-Baku route, which was implemented since June 2012.

Meanwhile, AZAL will implement flights on Perm-Baku route starting May 20, 2016.

The flights will be carried out by Embraer-190 aircraft and will run until October 29, 2016. Embraer-190 is able to increase the number of seats from 94 to 106.

Earlier, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency allowed Yamal Airlines to implement flights on this route twice a week. The flights should be carried out by ?320 and Boeing 737-400 aircrafts.

Red Wings, "Ijavia" and "Grozniy avia" airlines also have permissions to fly on this route.

Azerbaijan Airlines is a major air carrier and one of the leaders of the aviation community of the CIS countries, with the newest airplane fleets, comprising 25 airplanes.

The airline flies to 40 destinations in 19 countries and transported more than 1.8 million passengers in 2014.

Azerbaijani civil aviation aircraft fully meet the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and AZAL is a member of the most prestigious civil aviation association - the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

AZAL received a prestigious "4 Stars" rating from the leader in air transport research, the world-famous British consulting company Skytrax, in June 2015.
