Baku’s energy operator Bakielektrikshebeke JSC will do its best to provide its customers with good services. So, no power outage is expected in 2015, Head of Bakielektrikshebeke's press service Tanriverdi Mustafayev told local media.

He noted it will be guaranteed by the operation of new substations.

Several years ago, the electricity in the Azerbaijani capital was constantly cut, especially in winter. And today there are several streets in Baku which go dark occasionally but the houses and other facilities rarely experience problems with electricity.

Today power outrages occur in winter when people use a large number of electrical appliances, and the power grid simply can not cope with the demand.

Mustafayev went on adding that currently, Bakielektrikshebeke has 850,000 subscribers.

“But Baku develops year by year, and the number of subscribers increases as well. It means that we should continue increasing the capacity of the power grid. In the past eight years, it increased by 90 percent,” he noted.

As of today, the electronic meters have been installed at houses of 70,000 subscribers, and works on replacing old meters with new ones will continue in 2015 as well.

“Baku will host the first European Games in 2015. This is a historic event for our country, and we are carefully preparing for it. Old transformers will be replaced with those with large capacity wherever necessary, including stadiums and hotels,” he said.

Bakielektrikshebeke has a development program to improve the power supply of Baku’s central part and its settlements.

“Recently we have established three substations each with a capacity of 110 kW and nine substations each with a capacity of 35 kW. In general, Bakielektrikshebeke has established 26 substations each with a capacity of 110 kW and 70 substations each with a capacity of 35 kW since 2006,” Mustafayev stressed.
