Nakhtel, wireless CDMA operator of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) will not provide mobile services throughout the territory of Azerbaijan. NAR’s Communications and Information Technology Minister Rovshan Mammadov said on December 4.

“Talks over the expansions of the operator’s service throughout the territory of the country are not true. As before Nakhtel will operate only on the territory of Nakhchivan,” he stated.

The minister underlined some plans of the company on the expansion of the network on the territory of Nakhchivan. The company will be engaged in LTE [4G] deployment in the Autonomous Republic.

At present, Azerbaijan has three mobile operators "Bakcell", "Azercell" and "Azerfon" (brand Nar Mobile).

Nakhtel currently provides wireless communication services in CDMA standard by using the 800-900 MHz frequency band.

The company prepared the plan on deployment of a network of the fourth generation (4G) on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Commercial deployment of the operator's network planned for the end of the year.

At the first phase it was decided to involve the provision of telecommunications services and the Internet over the base stations of Bakcell, Azercell, and Azerfon mobile operators.

Further, the company plans to build and expand its network of base stations.
