Azerbaijan-Russia culture-business forum held in Baku

A St. Petersburg delegation headed by the city's vice-governor Vladimir Lavlencev visited Baku from October 16 to 18.

The delegation included representatives of executive missions, higher education institutions and business leaders of St. Petersburg.

As part of the cultural and business mission, the Azerbaijani-Russian business forum was held. Several meetings on business community, thematic round tables on the prospects for cooperation in the field of higher education, vocational education, science and culture were also held during the two-day event.

As many as 150 people took part in the Azerbaijan-Russia Forum. The issues on current status of the investment climate and business opportunities in Azerbaijan, as well as the investment potential of St. Petersburg were discussed during the forum.

The participants of the forum were briefed about the current status and development stages of trade and economic relations between the member countries of the forum.

They also discussed "Prospects for cooperation in the field of higher education, vocational education and science", where representatives of the St. Petersburg universities talked about new directions in Petersburg educational institutions and discussed possible joint educational and research projects with colleagues from Azerbaijan. The discussions were welcomed by both parties.

Businessmen from St. Petersburg visited industrial enterprises of Azerbaijan in Sumgayit Technology Park on October 17.

The guests got familiar with the Technopark companies. They were impressed by the scale of the undertaken work, the novelty of high technology equipment and processes of the participants, which left a good impression in them.

Meanwhile, "Russia-Azerbaijan. Interaction of culture" round table took place in Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts.

In the round table where 37 people took part, the participants touched upon some projects between Baku representatives and State Museum-Monument "Isaac's Cathedral" as well as Azerbaijan National Museum of Art and the St. Petersburg's Film Center "Homeland".

An interesting part of the meeting was the report of Azerbaijani sculptor Omar Eldarov "Interaction of cultures".

Then, the grand opening of St. Petersburg's Fie art exhibitions were held during the event. The participants had a chance to attend the two exhibitions, brought from St. Petersburg; Art Exhibition "Slavian Earth " and the photo exhibition "Petersburg through the angels eyes: a view from Isaac".

The exhibitions will last till October 29 in the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Azerbaijan Academy of Fine Arts.

Baku citizens also enjoyed a concert of the Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Sergey Stadler in Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev.

The audience warmly welcomed the guests and accompanied them with applause.
