A new technological building for the Baku Metro, located near the '28 May' station, is near completion, according to a message posted on Feb. 3 on the Baku Metro's website.
The new building will provide management, organization and regulation of traffic, as well as, the safety of passengers in Azerbaijani capital's metro, according to the message.
The message said that the creation of the technological building's main facilities is at the final stage; these are the traffic control points, which are important in the organization of not only movement, but also the work of the metro.
"The creation of traffic control points have been completed," according to the message.
Currently the length of Baku Metro's lines is 34.6 kilometers. It has two lines.
Plans are to bring the number of the lines to five, the length to 119 kilometers and the number of stations to 76.
The Baku Metro has operated since 1967 and has 23 stations. Earlier, a 20-year program for development of Baku Metro was adopted.
