Turkey passing through 'temporary breeze' - new minister

27 December 2013 [10:00] - TODAY.AZ
Incoming Economy Minister Nihat Zeybek?hi says the Turkish economy is not in a tight position, but passing through a period of slowing down "to take a breath", Hurriyet Daily News reported.

"We are not in hard times," the Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy, who has been freshly announced as Zafer Chaglayan's successor, told Dogan News Agency yesterday.

"These kinds of temporary breezes happen. Let's call this 'smoothing,' or 'taking a breath,' while climbing upwards," he said, adding his belief that "the economy will see much better days under Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Edrogan's leadership."

The economy minister, who will take up a hard job, following a minister whose name was involved with a vast corruption and bribery probe that shook the Turkish government, has a deep municipal background.

Zeybek?hi, father of two, served as mayor of the Denizli province between the years of 2004 and 2011 representing the AKP.

He graduated from the Marmara University Department of Business and completed his post graduate education at Istanbul University Department of International Relations. He also studied economy in London College.
