Morningstar sees ICT sector to benefit from co-op between U.S. and Azerbaijan

Opportunities abound for Azerbaijan in the field of information and communication technologies among the countries of the region, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told journalists on Dec.3.

There are three important areas that contribute to economic development, namely protection of the rights of intellectual property owners, reforms in tax and customs areas, and joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to the diplomat.

"All these areas need to be developed. In case Azerbaijan becomes a WTO member and joins the Information Technology Agreement, it will help to increase the export potential of the country," the ambassador said, expressing hope that the cooperation between the U.S. and Azerbaijan will contribute to the development of the industry.
