Date of launch of Azerbaijan's power supply to Turkey known

In October 2012 there will be an opportunity to begin the process of supply of electricity from Azerbaijan through Georgia to Turkey, Energy and Natural Resources Minister of Georgia Alexander Khetaguri told Trend on Wednesday.

He said at present work on laying the lines on the territory of Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan is nearing completion. Upon completion of the work, it will be possible to combine power systems of the countries that will allow power interchange.

Some 350 megawatts of electricity will be supplied at the initial stage within the energy bridge, and in the future, this volume will be increased up to 700 megawatts, Khetaguri said.
Electricity export from Azerbaijan to Turkey is planned to be carried out within the project

"Energy Bridge" by connecting the power systems of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
Reconstruction of the transmission lines transmission to the border between Azerbaijan and Georgia are necessary to ensure that exports. In turn, the Georgian side should also complete the construction work on its territory.
