'Oil and gas sphere is one of elements of Azerbaijan-UK cooperation'

Embassies of the United States and Great Britain to Azerbaijan held a joint event on the 19th International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference Incorporating Refining and Petrochemicals.

British Ambassador Peter Bateman said at the event that 2012 is very successful for Azerbaijan because Azerbaijan this year held at a high level Eurovision song contest and became a member of the UN Security Council. The Ambassador congratulated Azerbaijan in this regard.

Bateman noted that Azerbaijan and Great Britain have very strong, successful ties, and the sphere of oil and gas is an element of this cooperation.

U.S. Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Sterling noted in his speech that the scale of the relations between the two countries went beyond the energy sector and has grown considerably.

The most striking example of this is, he said, is holding in Washington in April of the III meeting of Azerbaijan - United States intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

There many U.S. companies in Azerbaijan in the energy and energy services area, and other U.S. companies intend to enter the Azerbaijani market. Representatives of these companies are also taking part in this event, Sterling said.

"I believe that the most important role of the U.S. in oil and gas production in the Caspian Sea is the fact that the U.S. brought together different sides and created the conditions for them to work together," he said.

The event was attended by the ambassadors of several foreign countries accredited in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani MPs, public representatives and other guests.
