SOCAR to finish main gas pipeline repair soon

Repair work of the Azerigaz Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is still underway due to the complex relief, on which the Altiagac-Agsu main gas pipeline in Shamakhi region passes, Azerigaz told Trend on Monday.

Gas leak on Altiagac-Agsu gas pipeline with diameter of 1,200 millimeter occurred at 22:50 on Friday, after which the fire took place. A result of the taken measures, gas transportation via the pipeline was stopped, the fire was extinguished. The Altiagac-Agsu gas pipeline is part of the Mozdok-Gazimagomed main gas pipeline, which supplies gas to Russia. Problems on the main gas pipeline has not affected gas supplies to Russia.

According to the report, complex relief did not interfere to draw the necessary equipment to conduct repair and restoration work.

"All necessary equipment and manpower is attracted for the repair and restoration of the pipeline," Azerigaz said.

Azerigaz did not disclose the exact terms of the completion of repair work. "Speaking about the exact terms is difficult, but everything is done in order to complete them in the near future," Azerigaz said. Shamakhi region is located in about 135 km from Baku.
