Azerbaijan almost doubles metallurgy production

Azerbaijan`s metallurgy industry produced goods and rendered services worth AZN253 million in January-November 2011. Production in the metallurgy industry increased by 1.9 times, while output of finished metal products decreased by 4.7 percent in this period.

Some 184,500 tons of steel casting were produced over the eleven months of 2011, which is 1.7 times over the same period of 2010. Production of reinforcement reached 157,700 tons, 1.5 times above January-November 2010.

The amount of produced iron casting made up 442,700 tons, which is 50 percent below the same period of 2010. Production of wires and cables made of ferrous metals hit 456,200 tons, which is 24.8 percent more than in January-November of last year.

Some 92,400 tons of steel pipes were produced, which is triple the amount made in the same period of 2010. Exports of semi-finished products made from ferrous metals as of January-October 2011 totaled 180,300 tons -- in the amount of more than $81.7 million, which is a surge of 120.4 percent. In the first ten months of 2011, the amount of exported pipes made from ferrous metals was more than 83,400 tons, worth $86.8 million, a 168.8 percent increase compared to the same period of 2010.
