EOC extremely happy with European Games - Coordination Commission chairman

So far, Azerbaijan, BEGOC and all organizations delivered exactly what they have promised, Spyros Capralos, the chairman of European Olympic Committee's Coordination Commission said at a press-conference in Baku June 15.

The chairman said that EOC is extremely happy with the results of the first days of the competitions.

First class sport has been demonstrated in great venues with the fully engaged local population, Capralos said.

He also said the all have experienced a fantastic opening ceremony, which took place on June 12.

“Now that the sport has started, we have Azerbaijan leading the medal’s table, which is something very important”, he said.

He said that another important issue is the quality of the broadcasting.

Everybody has opportunity to watch these Games – in front of the TV or through the website of the BEGOC, he said.

He went on to add that people from 145 countries around the world have opportunity to watch the European Games, and it is a big success.

The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28.

There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
