Performing at First European Games – great honor, says European bronze champ

It is a great honor for each athlete to perform at the First European Games, Azerbaijani gymnast, European bronze medal winner Marina Durunda told Trend June 10.

She said Azerbaijani gymnasts are training a lot.

“We have a very responsible attitude to this greatest event in the sports world – the European Games,” said the gymnast. “I will try to show the maximum of what I can do, to the audience, the federation and the head coach.”

Marina Durunda invited everyone to come and support the gymnasts, adding that with the support of fans it will be more convenient for the gymnasts to perform on the home arena.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
