Italian edition of Huffington Post publishes article on European Games in Baku

Italian edition of the Huffington Post newspaper has published an article about Baku, which will host the first European Games.

“The article covers the grandiosity of Baku and its gradual transformation into a modern city,” the article said.

“As a cosmopolitan center of the South Caucasus, Baku is known for beautiful skyscrapers, clean streets and historical monuments,” the author of the article wrote.

The first European Games will be held in this city from June 12-28. Baku is an ideal choice for sports enthusiasts and those who want to discover new places for tourism.

“The Old City is among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites,” the article said. “It is an unforgettable place for those who want to plunge into history. The bright lights of the Flame Towers complex make Baku’s nights more attractive.”

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
