Khachmaz welcomes Baku 2015 torch

Torch the first European Games Baku 2015 was delivered to the city of Khachmaz on June 3.

Activist Mubariz Hasanov received the first European Games torch at a symbolic gateway of the Games and then began the procession. Twelve torchbearers, moving along the avenue of Baku, arrived at the flag square of ??the city.

Winner of international competitions in judo Vasif Talibli climbed on stage and lit the torch of the first European Games.

Then a pupil of school ?3 in Khachmaz region Arzu Askerova passed on the symbolic lamp of the Games to historical museum of the city where it will shed light until June 28.

The event also saw a video of the ceremony of lighting the torch Ateshgah temple near Baku, on April 26.

The Journey of the Flame is bringing the spirit of Baku Games across Azerbaijan since April. In some 48 days, the spirit of Baku 2015 will inspire 60 regions across Azerbaijan, to finally arrive in the magnificent Baku National Stadium on June 12.

Khachmaz located to the northeast of Azerbaijan. It is supposed that name of the region came from the name of the tribe of khachmataki living in these lands are entering union of the militant tribes - the Huns. This shows that the region with fascinating history has many to show. Moreover, the region is enjoying favorable climate and ancient traditions like carpet weaving.
