Albert Einstein said "Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value". That would be perfectly fine in an idealistic world if people could actually follow this line. For some people success is an expensive car, a career, an office in Parliament, a beautiful woman next to you, some, or a lot of money in the pocket, state of being drunk or having a perfect body. The reality is that in the course of life, your definition of success changes and your attitude towards it likewise. People tend to complicate their own lives with all these selfish desires, as if living isn't already complicated enough. In fact, the success and failure are kinda friends and they go together in most of the instances. If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original.
It is a paradox that so many people want to be successful, yet most of them are not doing a thing. Perhaps 90 percent of the success is just showing up in the right place with the right knowledge. And you will see that there is no elevator to success, it is just out of order. You will have to use the stairs and make one step at time. In countries where connections are fundamental and people complain about not being able to do anything because they lack contacts, or money, or some patronage or whatever, you should know that this is the same to certain extent in most of the places on this planet. Stop complaining and try to actually do something. Not to mention that complaining is good unless you are not complaining to the person you are complaining about, just stop it, and live your life, the trouble is that if you don't spend your life yourself, other people spend it for you.
Failing is a natural process, and success will come with pain, but always remember that pain is temporary, but quitting lasts forever. Some people say that success is getting what you want, and happiness is wanting what you get. In this sense, a bad day for your ego is a great day for your soul. To succeed you need action and motion as this is the only universal language to success, so, quit talking and begin doing. If you are looking for shortcut, that is good, but there is no real secret to success, don't waste time looking for it. Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty to those for whom you work, and persistence.
If you don't know exactly where you're going, how will you know when you get there? Remember the two benefits of failure. First, if you do fail, you learn what doesn't work; and second, the failure gives you the opportunity to try a new approach. I've come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that's as unique as a fingerprint - and that the best way to succeed -- to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service.
Life is short. If you doubt me, ask a butterfly. Their average life span is a mere five to fourteen days. If you are not successful now, and not in complete failure state either, try to look at things differently and sometimes it takes a good fall to really know where you stand. Judge your success by what you had to give up for it. The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will and persistence.
I am myself, so grateful for my troubles. As I reflect back on my life, I have come to realize that my greatest triumphs have been born of my greatest troubles. Make a pact with yourself today to not be defined by your past. Sometimes the greatest thing to come out of all your hard work isn't what you get for it, but what you become for it.
